“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” — Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
Flowers attract all kinds of beneficial insects – not just bees and butterflies but also predatory insects such as hoverflies and ladybugs. The larvae of hoverflies feed on aphids, mites, and small insects, helping to control populations of these pests in gardens, fields, and other natural areas. Together they help to boost harvests and keep common pests under control, which is extremely important for agriculture in the jungle. If you would like to contribute to the wildflower meadows at Harmonia, please consider sending flower seeds to add more varieties of our gardens. The red and deep orange zinnias and the deep pink cosmos are the hardiest and most prolific, overpowering the landscape. We would like to add more yellow, apricots, pinks and purples, saving and sowing these seeds to create a more diverse color scheme.
